Simple Summer

Sometimes it is the simplest thing...like a caterpillar...that can just make your day.
My children (and, well to be frank, me too!) are deathly afraid of bugs and anything that resembles one. But, I have long been a lover of caterpillars. I was so worried they wouldn't trust me on this one..that they were okay to touch and hold.

Jackson liked them, too, though! He didn't quite like them being directly on him, but for the most part he wasn't scared and was quite fascinated. Preston was pretty hesitant but ended up being okay from a distance, too!

After much begging to bring the little guy inside to live as our pet (these poor kids don't have any pets), they ended up just settling for him being their friend for the day.

It is so rare I (and so as it happens they too) slow down enough to enjoy simple things like caterpillars, but when we take the time to it is so worth it.

**Sadly, it should be noted my rowdy Preston accidentally later stepped on Mr. Caterpillar. Not all the way but just enough to make him immobile.** :(
