Junior Kindergarten here he comes!

Monday was the first day of school, and it went great! Jackson woke up in a great mood and ready to go! He wanted to do carpool :( but thankfully I was able to convince him Mrs. Natalie wanted us to walk them in the first day (which really is true...sort of.) He got frustrated and said, "Well, I'm going to walk fast in front so I can pretend I am doing it by myself." Where is my baby????

Once inside he quickly began talking Mrs. Ronnie's ear off and finding some table toys to keep him busy while the other children arrived.

On the way in we saw a few familiar faces. He stopped to chat with Hannah, a classmate from 3K. And, he managed to get a few hugs from his 3K teacher and the director. He is so loved at this school. Those women have no idea how much that means to me.

Here he is posing by Daddy's truck. It cracked me up how we didn't drive that to school, but that is the vehicle he chose to pose by. Typical boy.

And, of course you're really not ready for school until you run fast to see how well your new school shoes work. I have GOT to make it a priority to go get the adapter for the camcorder for the new computer so I can post the video of him DANCING in the driveway. I thought big JPM was going to wet his pants when he saw it.
This year our mornings are a bit busier. We now have to check his sugar and plan breakfast a little more carefully and do his morning insulin shots. I have been getting him up earlier than before but we've been sitting around for like 20 minutes waiting to leave so I guess I can try to go back to 7:30 wakeup time like last year. It is just hard to predict because without the extra steps sometimes last year something would come up or he would wake up grumpy and it would set us behind. Thankfully though he has cooperated well the past two mornings.

He did well at school with his sugar..or I think anyway. I did get a text 30 minutes into the day saying he was saying he was low and wanted his snack. I, of course, was already in the bathroom with a nervous stomach and that just made it worse. Mrs. Ronnie wondered whether to do a finger stick, and I immediately felt horrible that the first day already was turning chaotic for her. I am sure the first day is drama already since some kids cry when they are left, etc. Anyway, as I wait for a return text after I told her it was really close to snack and how could he be low!? She types back, "He said he was just joking." That knucklehead! When I picked him up, he was a little low though so I did rearrange the plans for today involving snack and breakfast. So, we'll see how that works today at pickup. It is going to be hard at first until she learns his personality well when he is really low or when he is "joking" or wanting attention. And, sometimes he genuinely thinks he is low when really he is just tired.

I still really cannot believe he is about to turn five. Honestly. It makes my stomach hurt just to really let it sink in. And, then I think this time next year this Tuesday morning I will be childless. Both kids will be at school. Preston will be in 3K! Whew! What will I do with myself!?
