Jackson is a local hero! Earlier this week, the boys and I were running errands at Target. I used the automatic start button on my remote to allow the car to start running while I was loading up the kids back in the car so they would have some A/C since it was nearly 90 degrees. If you don't understand how it works, you have to lock the doors, push the button, then unlock the doors. Several times I have thought to myself gosh it would be so easy to lock the keys in the car if the doors were already opened and one got shut accidentally. Well, wouldn't you know it happened. I hadn't pushed the unlock button because the boys were already in their seats and our doors were already open. But, I cracked my door thinking it didn't latch so it wouldn't hit the buggy rack while I went to load up the stroller in the back. All the doors were locked! I panicked! I called 911 immediately. They were no help! I really should contact channel 2 to complain. They were supposed to send me someone or at least try to find me a locksmith, but when I called back later to cancel the request the guy sort of acted like he didn't even see my call. Anyway, I knew for sure Jackson couldn't get out of his seat. At carpool at school, I have to unlatch him. At least the bottom latch. Rarely he can do the top by himself, but not lately. Plus, once before a similar situation arose, and he got so panicked because he saw me upset that he couldn't even roll the window down because he was so nervous.
So, I called Paul upset. And, I forgot to mention the automatic start does work the A/C but only for like five minutes. So, here it was 90 degrees, and I knew in only minutes the air (and car) would cut off. I was fully prepared to find a brick and bust the window. Seriously. I was completely ready. Paul had said even if the officer came with a tool it wouldn't work on my type of car.
I also called Erica who calmed me down, and told me to really see if Jackson could help. So, I smiled all fake and acted really calm and asked Jackson to get out of his seat. Of course, he replied, "I can't." I told him to just try. God was there because on like the first try on each latch they opened! I told him to climb into the front seat. Poor guy. He knows he isn't supposed to climb all over the car, so he tried to squeeze between the door and the seat. I grinned and said, "Hey! Why don't you climb through the middle? Wouldn't that be fun?" He of course said, "Yeah!" So, he climbed through and with a few tries manages to unlock the door. Meanwhile during all the instructions the air had turned off. So, he saved us just in time! Thank you, Lord, for such a smart boy!!!!! We are so blessed!
And, the little genius in town is Preston! Would you believe he started saying his ABCs this week!? Of course it is in song format and a little hard to decipher the letters in certain areas, but definitely clear enough to get extra credit for being so young and able to do this! I don't remember when they are "supposed" to be able to accomplish those things, but it seems pretty early to me. I hope to find some time to search for the directions that came with the camcorder so I can post a video of him singing it soon. I am so proud of both of them!
