Thursday, Preston asked for cookie cereal with his waffle for breakfast with which I obliged. He had some on his tray, and when he got up he asked for them to be placed in a bowl so he could take them off to watch the Backyardigans as is his usual morning tradition. So, that we did. I went to put up the (note: brand new box) cookie cereal, but he whined that he wanted more and I suppose he thought putting away the box zeroed his chances for that. So, I left the box on the island in the kitchen. Another note: He has trouble reaching his sippy cup when it is placed on the island in the kitchen and whines for help to get it. This is a safe place for "out-of-reach" items.
So, I hopped in the shower (Jackson was at school.) While enjoying the warm water, Preston comes into the bathroom and states, "Mommy, I dumped out the cookie cereal." He was talking all calm and nonchalant which is also how I responded because he ALWAYS dumps out the bowls of whatever snack I give him. At this time, I wasn't too concerned.
I started doing some thinking though as I was drying off and thought to glance at the kitchen counter only to find the box missing. I thought to myself surely no! How could he ever reach it?
Holding my breath, I entered the living room to find this: (click on the picture to make it come up larger and then maybe the cereal will stand out more against the rug so you can see how it really was a brand new, full box.) But, as you can see, my cookie monster wasn't too upset. I wasn't either actually. I am not sure why because usually this would send me over the edge, but for some reason I found it kind of comical. Like I said, he is so different from Jackson which is an embracing thought. I mean look at how different I am from my sister.

A Cookie Monster's Confession...
The funniest part was when I picked up Jackson from school, I told him the story! Jackson said, "Mom, when we get home can I see that???!!!" He was very excited about how fun it all sounded! I exclaimed, "No, sweetie, I already vacuumed it up!" He then got all down and said, "Ohhh...well, when we get home can Preston do that again so I can see it?"
You can guess my reply. I am not sure I would have handled it so greatly the second time around! :)
