Christmas Eve with My Dad

When Paul and I were dating, we never got to see each on Christmas Eve because each of our families had long standing traditions neither us were ready to give up. :) So, now we split our time as equally as possible between the two. (My dad hasn't had a party for the past few years, but this year he started it back up.) When I was a kid, our Christmas Eve party was the highlight of my Christmas. It was always huge, super fun, loud, chaotic, and honestly just one of my best childhood memories ever. It was probably what ended up making Christmas be my favorite holiday as an adult. Now, it is much smaller, but still just as loud and chaotic. :) Mostly due to my kids! But, I still enjoy it.

Thank goodness my dad isn't a very strict Paw Paw. Because the new remote control cars we got from Maw Maw Brown's were a hit, and the kids were putting them to full use! At least his baseboards aren't painted, right? Man, they were crashing into everything!
While I do hate my stomach in this picture :( I still love this picture.

My kids are always very tired by the time we make it to my dad's (like 8pm! which is their bedtime!) But, it always cracks me up how the delerium sets in, and the excitement takes over!
This is just such an important part of Christmas for me. Sometimes I wistfully wish it could be JUST like it used to be. But, the truth is..things change. Remember when I just posted that change was good? See? I am trying. Things do change, but the love you have for the people in the situation do not. So, really it is all just the same, maybe even better.
