Trick-Or-Treat!!!
Friday night was such a busy night for us! We started out by trick-or-treating over at Lake Dow like we have since Jackson was one year old. That was fun as usual. We had a few hangups. :( Like Jackson panicking if he didn't get to ring the door bell or pick his candy out of the bowl. He is so me. He gets it in his head that something should go a certain way and loses all flexibility because he hates change. Sorry, buddy. Maybe you'll outgrow it. :) We tried our best to get the manners across like only one piece if you get to choose it yourself. Then, low and behold one lady gave Jackson two pieces and he panicked and said whining, "My daddy said I can only have one piece!" Kids! Gotta love 'em!
Then, we quickly realized that while at home Preston was not feeling Halloween, he suddenly decided it was his favorite holiday by far when he saw you got candy! He kept saying at home, "Take it off.." (his costume) But, that was forgotten quickly when he saw the lollipops! Poor guy. He couldn't trick-or-treat properly for wanting to eat on the way. He would forget his pumpkin altogether, go to the door lollipop in mouth and candybar in the other hand, say trick-or-treat, only to find he had nowhere to put the new treats!
At the time, the whining and drama was frustrating, but as always looking back now as I type this I realize those moments are the best. Because that is what we will retell for years to come. You make memories even when they aren't doing their best. :) They'll enjoy the blackmail for years to come. :) That is one reason I love to blog. I like typing about our day because I get to relive the memories, and they are always better late at night when the kids are all asleep and the house is quiet. :)
After Lake Dow, we stopped by Paw Paw Bell's and got some candy. He was the only person who handed out "body parts" to the kids. Gummy eyeballs and more yucky stuff.
Then, we joined Maw Maw and Paw Paw Mitchell at Waffle House for an unplanned quick supper. Then, on to Maw Maw Mitchell's house it was. Every year they have to go trick-or-treating there because she gives out the BEST stuff! Oreos, Nutter Butters, Chips Ahoy, and all kinds of stuff! Their pumpkins were packed full! And, we let them stay up late and play over there until after 11pm! They were exhausted, but we know they had fun!
Here are some pictures. I still can't get them to post in the order I add them. :(
Trick-or-treating at Maw Maw Mitchell's: Dad leading the way at Lake Dow. This year Mom played camera duty, and for the first time Dad headed up going to the doors. I loved seeing the three JPMs interacting like that. The kids are going through this phase where they only want to hold Daddy's hand. :)
