And our yearly tradition of carving our pumpkin is no exception! We started doing this even before Jackson turned one, and we have done it every year since. Well, not really we...Daddy does most of the work! :) But, we still have tons of fun! Each year Jackson thinks he wants to pitch in until he realizes how gooey and yucky the inside of the pumpkin is. But, he puts in a good effort.
Well, this was a big change from last year with Preston! As you can see below, he started to hold the top but then freaked and threw it down. Last year if you remember he ATE the top! We were the ones freaking out because we weren't sure that was safe!
What fun! It turned out great! As you can see the mouth is quite large though. That is for several reasons...the first being that the pumpkin is a Mitchell with Bell heritage. Of course, it would have to have a big mouth!! Just kidding! Ha ha! No, seriously. The pumpkin's mouth is huge because Dad had to doctor it up. He turned it around to show it to us and it was very very scary and mean looking! Jackson was speechless and his eyes looked big. I said, "Uh, Dad, we don't like stuff like that. We want our pumpkin to be silly and smiling!" So, after the correction this is how it turned out.
And here are the three JPMs delivering the final product to the porch all lit and ready to show off!
It is the traditions like these that when the boys are all grown up and I have "empty nest" syndrome, I will really really miss them! :(
