My Baby Turns Four!

This weekend we had Jackson's 4th birthday party! It was "Go, Diego, Go!" themed. And, we had Diego cake, Baby Jaguar (the hardest project ever!) cupcakes, an inflatable safari slide, and lots of fun with family and friends! It is so hard to believe he is already turning four!

He told me this which sums it all up right now with how he thinks at this age:

"Mom, now that I am four I think I can take care of myself. Don't you think so?" I responded, "Yes, Jackson, there are more things you can do for yourself now, but you still need Mommy and Daddy for at least a few things, don't you think?" He then said, "Yeah, for a few things. But, I can take care of myself now."

Then, we took him to dinner where they sang to him last night at Longhorn's. He then stood up in the booth and asked, "How big am I? Am I now bigger than Daddy?" Too funny! I have never known a kid so infatuated with growing up so fast!
The microphone from Maw Maw Mitchell was by far the favorite toy I think. With the electric guitar from Paw Paw Bell coming in a close second. He actually slept with the guitar last night. Although I think it might be because he couldn't figure out how to sleep with the stand-up microphone. He actually got the idea to sing Happy Birthday to himself with us using the microphone! We got it all on video!

The slide was a huge hit! It was definitely worth the money. (I shopped around, so if you are interested in where to get a good deal let me know!) All ages of the kids loved it, and the adults did, too!!!

This is Cinderella Bree by the way! Since I didn't post her birthday pictures yet, at least I can pay tribute here. Preston loved the slide, too.

The JPMs and Mom wore the slide out the day before the party actually. We had it all weekend once the rain stopped. It was alot of fun! That is partially why the cupcakes were so overwhelming. I spent so much time sliding Saturday!
All in all I have some great memories this year. My sister's children came, and my kids haven't really seen them much (neither have I) since last December. So, that was nice to see my nephews. Plus, I think I managed to meet my goal. Not spending TOO much and also enjoying it without getting so stressed. I feel like I am a horrible entertainer. I feel like I always get so uptight and worried about making everyone feel comfortable and serving everyone that I end up not enjoying myself or my time with my kids and family. So, this year you may have had to fix your own drink, but I really got to enjoy my time celebrating with the birthday boy! Which is all that mattered to me!

Last night I told Jackson that I hoped he had fun. He said he did. Then, I told him every year this is why I go to all this trouble to make sure you have a great day! He only responded, "Mom, I like lots of trouble on my birthday!" He makes it all worth it by saying that. He really is old enough to show me how much he appreciates it now. He really LOVED it all, especially those darned cupcakes! He said, "Mom! They really DO look like baby jaguar!"
