It's That Time...

Time for the County Fair! Every October the fairs are something we really look forward to! (Ok, well Jackson and I look forward to them, and I am hoping Preston inherits our addiction. Paul tags along sometimes.)

Jackson has been asking about it for weeks! We started taking him when he was just about to turn two, and he has always enjoyed it. We went Thursday evening with my dad, his girlfriend, Teresa, and her little girl, Jalyn. We had a great time. It wasn't crowded like it usually is when we would go on a Friday night.

The kids rode lots of rides. Preston didn't show much expression, but when he got off he would say, "Dat was fun."
There were a few "firsts" for me to get all emotional about. Preston rode the carousel for the first time ALONE. There were seatbelts, and I didn't have tickets to ride with him. (Mean fair workers!) The seatbelts got really tight, and Daddy convinced me he would be OK. But, I was a nervous wreck. He obviously loved it!
And, much to dismay my baby, Jackson, is now 42 inches tall! (or more!) A few things the little kids could ride he was too tall for. And there was lots of stuff he could ride they could not. He chose to ride this big boy ride below. I hadn't seen it "on" yet, but he was tall enough, so I let him. I knew it was fast, but there was a bigger, faster version there, too. My thinking was this was the Jr. version.

Thank goodness the attendant was a nice fair worker and suggested I could ride with Jackson even without tickets! I don't think he would have made it off alive, nor I made it through it without jumping the fence to go grab him off!

But, typical big boy Jackson wouldn't admit it scared him. All he said at the end was, "That was cool, Mom!" Where did my toddler go???? Cool? Seriously?

Goodbye to the Henry County fair until next October!
